If you’ve read about my visit to the Blackrock Market, you know exactly how thrilled we were to have found 3 Leaves Blackrock, an Indian food corner in a chirpy Blackrock market. Although Blackrock Market is only open on weekends, Three Leaves BlackRock is a permanent establishment there. (At the end of this blog, I’ve mentioned their operating days, for you to plan a visit)
“3 Leaves Blackrock Indian Cusine”, is so far the best Indian food restaurant we have visited in Dublin. However, if you want more proof, note what the MICHELIN Guide has to say about them.
“This sweet little eatery sits within a bohemian market and is always packed. Simple lunches follow a ‘when it’s gone, it’s gone’ approach – go for the great value ‘Taster’ menu. Two nights a week they offer dinner, which is a more ambitious affair. They’re unlicensed, so BYO.”
It’s a little India in Blackrock Dublin
It is the prettiest depiction of a tiny Indian abode. There’s a large window that opens to the market lane. Luckily, this window table with two seats was waiting just for us! We settled there and gave a good exercise to our necks as we appreciated every detail in that room. It is hard work to recreate another land’s atmosphere in a foreign country. Millie and Santosh, the lovely couple who own the restaurant, have done a good job by keeping it subtle yet very Indian. Turquoise walls have smoothly connected the East to the West.
It’s a narrow lane, and tables outside the restaurant are right beside the window. Together they create a perfect busy neighbourhood, like in India.
3 Leaves Blackrock Menu
Our excitement was hitting the highest level of nostalgia as we read the menu. Street food is my go-to when I have deep craving for yummy food and it’s honestly a mood lifter. I was smiling ear to ear seeing a great variety of Indian street food options. Husband was grinning with the sight of 3 leaves tasting menu option which is like the thali (a big plate meal) option in India. Thalis are the best way to enjoy a wide variety of food items in one order.
Waiting for the food, we turned into photographers for a group at the table outside. Listening to the tunes of old classics from Indian movies playing in low volume, we felt that India with a package of best things is visiting us in Dublin. We were reliving India sitting at the Blackrock market.
Food at 3 Leaves Blackrock impresses their countrymen and others alike.
5 reasons why you must visit 3 Leaves Blackrock
- Delicious Indian food in Blackrock Market
– If you’re a fan of Indian spices and flavours, 3 Leaves is the right place to experience authentic taste of Indian food. It is mildly hot keeping in mind European palate but it still does justice to the original flavour of a dish. The food impresses their countrymen and others alike. - Three Leaves Blackrock food is Homestyle cooked food
– More often than not, after eating at an Indian restaurant the body slows down with the heat of spices and richness of fatty ingredients that enhance the taste of a dish. At Indian homes, food is equally (rather more) delicious because of the love and simplicity with which Indian mums cook for their family. Similarly, eating food at 3 Leaves Blackrock, you will experience the joys of food cooked at Indian homes and you will be active enough to continue exploring the market. - Three leaves Blackrock Menu caters to everyone
– If you want to taste the deliciousness of Indian street food (barring hygiene level), go to 3 Leaves Blackrock. If you want to taste the goodness of traditional food, 3 Leaves is your place. And if you want to enjoy the simplicity of a regular meal too, this restaurant should be on your list. It also serves both veggie and meaty preferences. - Reasonably priced
– For the scrumptious food and generosity of portions, it is NOT at all expensive. - Wonderful Service
– Santosh and Millie present the perfect example of Indian hospitality. Millie was at the restaurant the day we visited. Her personal visit to each table, ensuring the guests are served well and that they understand foreign names on the menu, seemed to make everyone feel welcomed.
What’s missing!
For us, the absence of Indian masala chai and filter coffee from the menu was the only element that was keeping us away from complete immersion into India-in-Dublin episode. But I think that’s just our greedy selves talking! As the experience was becoming more authentic, we were yearning for more. We are delighted that 3 Leaves Blackrock exists in Dublin.
We are sure to make multiple trips to this restaurant. Hope you also enjoy their mastery in Indian cooking.
